We always strive to build Learnsmarter as an app that we’d like to use (and we do!) And one thing I personally hate is things that are overly complex. The challenge is to take processes that are hard and make them feel easy to manage and to implement.
A great example of this is the Learnsmarter (sales) Tax Manager. Now sales tax may seem pretty dull – and in the UK it is; you pay 20% or you pay zero. But in other jurisdictions it’s far more complicated. Canada is a great example of that, where nearly every province has different tax rates. In Quebec they have two taxes that both get charged at the same time. The tax may vary depending on whether you are attending a course remotely or in person, where the course is held and where you are based. Some Canadians have exemptions and so for them training is tax free.
Now that meets my definition of complex, but the Learnsmarter tax manager can handle all of that easily. With just three simple pages and total of ten data entry fields combined across all those pages, you can build tax rules to manage every Canadian tax situation. Now that is pretty cool!
